Tobacco, when smoked, has been known to cause many negative health effects. Mass-produced tobacco in smokable form (cigarettes, pipe tobacco) is extremely detrimental to physical health and has been known to be for quite some time. Generally, any smoke[citation needed] is harmful to the lungs, including cigarette smoke that comes from other people. When people inhale cigarette tobacco smoke but are not actually smoking, it is called secondhand or passive smoking. Secondhand smoke (SHS) is known to help cause cancer, even in people who do not smoke. [1]
